Hotel Overview

KAMENOI HOTEL AKO is a hot spring resort with beautiful views located on Ako Misaki in Setonaikai National Park. All rooms feature an ocean view that makes the most of this superb location. On clear days the hotel boasts a view encompassing the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge and Awajishima Island to the east, the Ieshima Islands in the front, and Shodoshima Island to the west. A variety of guest rooms are available, including Japanese and Western-style accommodations, and Western-style rooms featuring semi-outdoor baths with scenic ocean views. The 4th floor, which is the highest in the hotel, features guest rooms with wooden decks that offer grand views of Setouchi. The baths use water from Ako Misaki Hot Spring, the hotel’s very own source flowing from 1,200 meters underground. The hotel offers a variety of baths with natural hot springs for your enjoyment, such as the infinity outdoor bath, which almost seems to blend in with the ocean, the spacious large public bath, and the bamboo forest outdoor bath (women only).

Ako City in Hyogo Prefecture is well known as the setting of the Chushingura and many other locations connected to the 47 ronin. Ako Oishi Jinja Shrine where Kuranosuke Oishi and the 46 other ronin are enshrined is one such place. From our hotel, you can reach it in about 10 minutes by car. The shrine attracts worshippers from all over Japan, and is thought to bring good fortune in the form of attainment of one’s cherished desires or wish fulfillment in connection with the samurai who did the same in avenging the death of their lord. There are many more attractions on the shrine’s grounds, including the Repository of the Loyal Retainers, which showcases precious artifacts including the Saihai baton said to have been used by Kuranosuke in the raid, and his cherished sword. About 10 minutes away by car you’ll find the historic ruins of Ako Castle which was built by Naganao Asano, the first lord of the Asano clan in Ako Domain, Harima Province.

Hyogo Prefectural Ako Seaside Park is located on the site of the salt farms for which this area has been famous since long ago. This spot is about 6 minutes by car from the hotel. The vast park is home to the Tateho Wakuwaku Land amusement park, Wanpaku Square with its wooden obstacle course and playground equipment, the Ako Marine Science Museum where visitors can learn about the history of Ako and salt farming, an auto-camping site, and tennis courts, making it a destination for many people. This is the perfect hotel for a trip around Ako with its abundant nature, and where history and culture lives and breathes.
