Hotel Overview

KAMENOI HOTEL KANONJI is a hot spring hotel situated atop a small hill overlooking the calm Seto Inland Sea boasting rich natural hot springs Hagami Hot Spring, which is known for being gentle to the skin and keeping you warm, flows from nearly 1,200 meters underground. There are two different outdoor baths for your enjoyment. In Kotone no Yu you can enjoy the sounds of a suikinkutsu, a traditional Japanese garden ornament, and the cylindrical Madoka no Yu, which features a bamboo motif. The hotel offers a variety of guest rooms such as the bright, calm atmosphere of Japanese-style rooms, Western-style rooms, and mixed Japanese and Western style rooms. Relax and find comfort in this elegant, laid-back atmosphere.

The neighboring area is teeming with some of Shikoku’s best sightseeing spots. Temples number 67 to 70 on the Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage can be found within 20 minutes of the hotel by car. About 30 minutes away by car you’ll find temple number 75, Zentsuji Temple, which is famous for being located in the land of Kobo Daishi’s birth. Then about 15 minutes away by car is the popular Kanonji spot, Kotohiki Park. The vast park grounds are packed with scenic highlights such as the ocean, mountains, shrines and temples, and historic sites. One area of note among them is the Zenigata Sunae, a massive sand painting 345 meters in around that depicts an Edo period copper coin. It is said that people who see it live long lives, and never lack money. Kotohira-gu Shrine, which is famous for its long, 785-step staircase, is about 30 minutes away by car. This shrine has been affectionately known as “Konpira-san” since the Edo period, and continues to attract devout worshippers to this day.

If you want to enjoy nature, head to Sanuki Manno Park to enjoy seasonal flowers, or to Mt. Shiudeyama, a famous spot for its cherry blossoms overlooking the mountains of Shikoku and the Seto Inland Sea. Both spots are within 40 minutes by car. About 25 minutes away by car you’ll find Chichibugahama Beach, famous for reflecting the surrounding scenery like a mirror in the tide creates pools at low tide. About 20 minutes away by car you’ll find Mt. Unpenji Ropeway Sanroku Station, where you can travel to the summit of Mt. Unpenji to enjoy a dynamic natural view. Shikoku Aquarium, which features mysterious displays based on the theme of the aquatic environment of Shikoku, is about 50 minutes away by car. This is the perfect hotel as a base for sightseeing in Shikoku and all it has to offer.
