Tondabayashi, the central area of the Minamikawachi district is blessed with a natural environment rich in greenery. Mt. Kongo is the highest peak in Osaka prefecture and the main peak of the Kongo Range running along the Osaka-Nara border. This destination offers visitors a chance to enjoy nature unique to each passing season, from the cherry blossoms and wild grasses and flowers of spring, to fresh greenery in summer, the autumnal leaves in autumn, and the beautiful ice-covered trees in winter. The area has a number of well-kept mountain climbing routes, providing a safe, enjoyable climbing experience to both beginners and seasoned climbers alike. The trail head in the foothills is about 30 minutes away by car. The area near the summit is packed with things to see including Tenporinji Temple, Kongosan Katsuragi Jinja Shrine, and the Chihaya Castle ruins. Another precious historic spot in Tondabayashi is Jinaimachi, a town based on the Tondabayashi Koshoji Betsuin Temple built around 1560. The town layout of the time remains today, and its many traditional homes and town houses have resulted in it being selected as the only Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings in Osaka prefecture. About 20 minutes from the hotel by car, and about 5 minutes on foot from Tondabayashi Station on the Kintetsu Nagano Line.
For a fun time with kids, head to World Ranch, which is about 20 minutes by car. The ranch is home to 1,500 animals and birds from 140 species, and visitors can enjoy interacting with many different animals, including horseback riding, walking with ponies, milking cows, and feeding small animals.
