Hotel Overview

KAMENOI HOTEL YANAGAWA is a hot spring hotel standing alongside a canal with an exotic flair in Yanagawa, Fukuoka, known as a riverside city. The baths use Yanagawa Hot Spring water, known for its skin beautifying effects. The large scenic public bath on the 5th floor offers guests the chance to enjoy a natural hot spring while taking in the unique, gorgeous views that only riverside Yanagawa can provide. On the 1st floor you’ll find an outdoor bath that will allow you to lay back and relax as you feel the gentle breeze. The spacious private baths have both indoor and outdoor bathing options, making them the perfect place for guests with small children to enjoy the hot springs. Guest rooms include Japanese and Western-style accommodations with a focus on Japanese-style rooms, as well as special mixed Japanese and Western-style rooms with outdoor baths.

Because Hakushu Kitahara, a representative poet in modern literature was born and raised among the beautiful riverside scenery of Yanagawa, the area has been designated as a national scenic spot for its rich poetical sensibilities. One popular tourist attraction is traveling the moat in a Donkobune boat in the Yanagawa Kawakudari (going downstream the castle moat). Enjoy the seasonal scenery on this nearly 70 minute, leisurely boat tour piloted by the deft pole movements of the boatman. Time spent listening to the tour guides in the city where vestiges of the castle town remain, as well as the tales and boat songs, are full of charm that evoke the sentiment of a traveler. A stroll along the boardwalk that encircles the canal is not to be missed. In the area you can also find many monuments inscribed with poems, songs, and haiku from famed poets and writers who have visited Yanagawa.

About 15 minutes away on foot, Hakushu Memorial Hall is a museum where visitors can see a recreation of the home poet Kitahara was born in and learn about the history of Yanagawa. About 45 minutes away by car is Yoshinogari Historical Park, a recreation of the largest moated settlement of the Yayoi period. Known as the god of academia, Sugawara no Michizane, who died in the area, is enshrined at Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, which is located about 70 minutes away by car. This is the perfect hotel for business travel and sightseeing with family.
