We sincerely regret to inform you that the reservations system provided by Fastbooking for our guests in English, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese and Korean have been affected by a data breach which may have compromised our guests’ personal information. Fastbooking, a company headquartered in France and the parent company of Fastbooking Japan, informed us that they were the targets of a data breach on June 22, 2018 and we are currently working with them to determine the extent of the data breach. As of the date of this notice we have removed all Fastbooking services from our website and no longer accept reservations from their system. Our current services both overseas and in Japan in all languages are no longer affected.
We sincerely apologize to those who may have been affected and have reported this incident to the Personal Information Protection Commission subsequent to Fastbooking’s initial report.
Our reservations system in Japan was not affected by this incident.
According to Fastbooking, below are the details of the information that may have been compromised as a result of the breach of their system:
1) 76 hotels and 39,649 bookings: personal information excluding credit card information from May 2017 to June 2018 and
2) 42 hotels and 27,103 records of encrypted credit card information from before August 2017.
These breaches may have affected those who have made reservations through our Fastbooking reservations system during those periods for guests booking in English, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese and Korean.
We sincerely value our relationships with all of our guests and will continue to address this issue as we receive additional information. Again, we have suspended and removed all of Fastbooking’s services from all of our websites and our current services in all languages, both overseas and in Japan are no longer affected.
