Travel back in time to the Nara period

The plaza in front of the Suzakumon Gate is being restored with restaurants, cafes, and shops.

Heijo Palace (a World Heritage Site) is conveniently located within walking distance of the hotel. The capital was transferred here in 710, with the palace becoming the political and cultural center of Tenpyo culture. The emperor resided here, served by approximately 7,000 nobles and officials. Other symbols worth seeing include the Suzaku-mon Gate, the first Imperial Audience Hall where important national ceremonies were conducted, and the restored East Palace Garden with its pond. In 2018, the Suzaku-mon Gate Hiroba (Square) was prepared and opened to the public as Nara Palace Site Historical Park.
It is a center with a collection of facilities enabling the visitor to enjoy the Heijo Palace Remains even more deeply. Among the facilities are Heijokyu Izanai-kan, guiding the visitor through the significance and wonders of Heijo Palace in days gone by, the restaurant and cafe of the Tempyo Umashi-kan, and the sightseeing information center and specialty products shop at Tempyo Mitsuki-kan.
Among other things found within the precincts of the palace remains are the Nara Palace Site Museum (displaying earthenware, tiles and other excavated objects, construction models and an excavation diorama), the Excavation Site Exhibition Hall (showing the actual excavation remains), and the Information Center for Reconstruction Project of the Former Imperial Audience Hall Compound (presenting CG images and historical materials concerning the south gate of the first Imperial Audience Hall).
