Kanmuriyama Park in Hikari City, Yamaguchi, is a park that offers tremendous views of the sea. The park’s theme coincides with the image of Hikari City - the radiance of nature - and is lined with trees whose appearance changes with the season. The highlight of the park is the Ume no Sato (Kanbai-en), which features a plantation of some 2,000 plum trees of 100 varieties. Plum Blossom Festival is held every year from February to early March, when the park is blooming with red, white and pale pink flowers. A leisurely stroll through the center of the park is highly recommended, where a Japanese garden stretches out, accompanied by scenic pond and a babbling brook.
The Children’s Forest is an athletic area that gives a sense of exploring a forest, providing nine playground areas across a 2,000m2 site. Another attraction is the motor home camping site, an expansive site surrounded by greenery. In this relaxing space, you can enjoy nature to the fullest. Other attractions include a vendor selling seasonal flowers and seedlings, the Hikari City Tourism Association (Hikari Hana Yakata), which offers sightseeing information for tourists and sells local specialties, and a restaurant that provides a sweeping view of the setting sun descending beneath the Seto Inland Sea. Kanmuriyama Park offers the best of both worlds, beautiful natural surrounds with the modern amenities of an urban park, complete with a training center and break room, ideal for holding exhibitions, workshops and other events.
