HOTEL MYSTAYS Fuji Onsen Resort

Took many photos with the backdrop of Fuji-san from our room!!! For privacy purposes, I won’t be uploading the photos of my family against this gorgeous backdrop. 10000% would recommend this hotel not only for its fantastic views of Fuji-san, the Onsen in this resort is just spectacular!!!!

Many decades ago I flew over Mount Fuji's snow capped crater on a domestic flight. I remember many people on that same flight getting excited. This time I'll be much closer to the mountain, so I was looking forward to see it again. The key selling point of this hotel is of course rooms on higher floors get a view of Mt. Fuji. Admire Fuji from the comfort of my room, sounds nice. At a price of course. Mount Fuji is known to be "shy". It's rare to find it not veiled by cloud. But we were lucky as both days the sky was clear. We can see it from our windows, but in the foreground there's electric poles, wires, and the amusement park rides, which clutters the view somewhat. See my photo to decide if it's worth paying extra. I know I probably won't next time. If you want a uncluttered view of Mount Fuji and don't want to spend extra on the room, there are actually plenty of spots to do so as Mount Fuji is huge and is visible from miles away. For example, head to the area known as Five Lakes and you'll find many nice spots. In contrast to the modern hotel exterior, our simple room was a bit worse for wear. It's clean and good sized, but it's time for some maintenance. For example, the toilet seat cover opens/shuts on its own during the night which frightened my mom. The pillow here is also uniquely "short" for some reason. I couldn't get use to it and turned a lot during the night trying to get comfortable. We opted for the hotel buffet breakfast. By this time, we had grown accustomed to Japanese breakfast and were loving it. Breakfast starts at 7 and ends at 10. Hotel has a big carpark which is free for guests. Staffs can speak and understand English, but compared to other hotels we stayed in, the Japanese "warmth" feels a bit lacking here.
