Nasu Fishland is a popular tourist destination where you can enjoy mountain-stream fishing amid the rich nature of the four seasons. It is divided into five fishing areas where children and adults can enjoy fishing together. The five areas are: Nijimasu, which is a beginners’ area for inexperienced fishers and children; Keiryu, which is for intermediate-to-advanced fishers who want to try their hand at authentic mountain-stream fishing for char and landlocked salmon; Rua-Fry, which is an advanced area for those who want to catch big char and landlocked salmon; Bisu, where you pay for the fish you caught; and Dantai, which is reserved for large groups and is available by reservation only. You can choose the style of fishing fun that best suits you!

You can have your catch cooked on the spot, grilled with salt, prepared with Japanese citrus pepper, or fried up as karaage. It always tastes better when you catch it yourself! After enjoying your fishing experience, why not try an authentic charcoal barbecue? The roof means that you don’t need to worry about the weather on the day. Nasu Fishland is also famed as one of the few places where you can find both the genji-botaru and heike-botaru fireflies, named for the warring Genji and Heike clans of the late 12th century. Every July, the natural firefly appreciation parties are held here, so you can enjoy the beautiful and mystical sight of the dancing fireflies.
