  • Ryogoku Kokugikan

  • Ryogoku Kokugikan is the holy ground of sumo wrestling, the national sport of Japan. During sumo tournaments, visitors can experience an entirely different world as sumo wrestlers with their oicho (a topknot shaped like a ginkgo leaf) come and go. Also, the Sumo Museum can be visited free of charge.

  • The contruction of this shrine dates back to the 7th century. Known for the Torigoe Festival, the Mikoshi (a devine palaquin) is claimed to be 3750kg which is one of the heaviest in Tokyo.
